Thousand Islands

Today we were in A Thousand Islands (all at once). We have a very nice place we are staying right on the water. We went on a 5 hour tour of all the islands with some really beautiful houses on them. The boat took us from Canada to the U.S. and back. on the St. Lawrence river. In the middle of the tour we stopped at Boldt Castle. Boldt was responsible for opening the Bellvue in philly!! :) And the Walkdorf in NY (not as important ha ha)

Again with the viewfinder haha

We are having some functional trouble with uploading videos...which is unfortunate because we have some cute ones.

Montreal

Yesterday we were in Montreal. We started off at the biodome, which was exciting because they had some interesting live animals and they had an insectitarium and gardens. We all agreed the gardens were not nearly as nice as longwood gardens but they tried. My sister really loved the penguins as did I. We stood for maybe 20 minutes just watching them because they are so awesome! (see video below)
After the biodome, we went to Notre Dame de Montreal. I have to say I don't know that all of us were that excited about the church but wow when we got inside it was sooooo beautiful, my sister had the most trepidation and when she walked in she was saying mid-sentence, "I don't see what the big deal is it's just a......WOW!" ha ha

Montreal is a much bigger city than Quebec City. It somewhat reminds me of Philadelphia or New York. We spent most of our time in the "old town" which is full of cobblestone walks and tourist traps, which is nice every once and a while. But I hear they have a mean jazz festival in July that is worth going to. And their night life seemed pretty upbeat, if we weren't all so tired we may have attempted to join in on it.

I must say, we went to a restaurant during happy hour. Instead of deals on prices we got two beers for the price of one. It was very exciting when it came to our table!

We also had a run in with a very funny street performer after dinner, we have some video of that that we will upload later.

The photo on the left is the wedding chapel. The one on the right was the main church. The ceiling was the best! Just in case anyone was wondering, I learned that this church is a basillica, and in order to become a basillica, you have to be deemed by the vatican as artistically, architectually and historically special. Just in case you were wondering....because I was.
At the gardens they had every color waterlily.

This building was the Olympic Stadium for Montreal, awesome architecture.

Pirahna!!

Food in Quebec

It took a while but this is the last of Quebec, if you want to see more you'll have to ask for a private viewing. This was our final meal in the wonderful city. It was amazing. My sister may expand on the tastes etc. later but she is busy sleeping while I post this blog. So you'll have to deal with my lack of knowledge of food. Sorry about the sideways photo (please turn your head to view) :)

This is what the restaurant looked like it was quite lovely.

Here is the menu, you can enlarge the photo and try to read the meals.
This was a salad with salmon, it was delicious.
This was the most magnificent mushroom soup I've ever tasted in my life!
This was Venison.
This was Quail stuffed with...something ha ha
This was Veal something...
This was the best creme brulee ever!
This was a chocolate, mango and pistachio cake.

These two pictures are the outside of the house we were staying in..that's right HOUSE and it's currently on the market for 2.1 mil if anyone is interested!
Here is the crazy disco ball I promised a long time ago (I am still in shock that it exists!)
Thank you for all of you that participated in the guessing game. This is in fact my brother on the window ledge taking a  picture of the outside because there was a nice view and he was using the curtain to shield out the light. It was really funny to see his feet poking out.

Caroline - you win for closest guess
Amelia - you win for knowing it was Cliff and being observant ha ha
Katie - you win for giving the most answers and being funny and ironic haha

Feel free to guess what is going on here!!

Bonjour! We made it to Montreal, last night we just chillaxed in the hotel room and enjoyed the outdoor pool and ordered a little pizza. We needed it! Today is going to be crazy we are going into the city and we are going to do it all! (probably not really because we won't have enough time but we are going to try that's always my motto)

I'm going to still be posting pictures of Quebec for a while because there is alot on backorder. Like our fabulous meal that we had yesterday before we left and other things we saw and did. So I will title Montreal pictures "Montreal" when I post them so assume that until then they are Quebec. I think those of you that like food are going to be excited when I post the pictures of our meal whoo hoo. Until tonight.

This was a very beautiful we stumbled on while walking, my mom and I wanted to take it home!

Here are some of the pictures of the apartment we were spoiled in! I will post some more tomorrow, unfortunatley alot of them were taken on a camera that we aren't able to upload to the computer.
