Montreal

Yesterday we were in Montreal. We started off at the biodome, which was exciting because they had some interesting live animals and they had an insectitarium and gardens. We all agreed the gardens were not nearly as nice as longwood gardens but they tried. My sister really loved the penguins as did I. We stood for maybe 20 minutes just watching them because they are so awesome! (see video below)
After the biodome, we went to Notre Dame de Montreal. I have to say I don't know that all of us were that excited about the church but wow when we got inside it was sooooo beautiful, my sister had the most trepidation and when she walked in she was saying mid-sentence, "I don't see what the big deal is it's just a......WOW!" ha ha

Montreal is a much bigger city than Quebec City. It somewhat reminds me of Philadelphia or New York. We spent most of our time in the "old town" which is full of cobblestone walks and tourist traps, which is nice every once and a while. But I hear they have a mean jazz festival in July that is worth going to. And their night life seemed pretty upbeat, if we weren't all so tired we may have attempted to join in on it.

I must say, we went to a restaurant during happy hour. Instead of deals on prices we got two beers for the price of one. It was very exciting when it came to our table!

We also had a run in with a very funny street performer after dinner, we have some video of that that we will upload later.

The photo on the left is the wedding chapel. The one on the right was the main church. The ceiling was the best! Just in case anyone was wondering, I learned that this church is a basillica, and in order to become a basillica, you have to be deemed by the vatican as artistically, architectually and historically special. Just in case you were wondering....because I was.
At the gardens they had every color waterlily.

This building was the Olympic Stadium for Montreal, awesome architecture.

Pirahna!!
